Degrassi - The Next Generation episode 2, season 3.

This was part 2 to last week's first episode of the new season. Emma found her father Shane and at first he found it hard to believe the teenager in front of him was his daughter as the last time he saw her she was only 3. When the nurse came in and told Emma she had to leave Shane got pretty upset and we saw a glimpse into the darker side of Shane. He got a bit violent and threw a few things around until he was given his knitting to calm him down. This was so sad to see.

Emma was so angry at her mum for not telling her about Shane's brain damage. Eventually Archie (Snake) explained what happened to Shane and why he was placed in the institution and Emma decided to go home and talk to her mum. Lucky she did because Shane was there! He had left the hospital and come to see Emma and instead found Christine (Spike). He got violent again when Christine asked him to leave and during it all she went into labour. Emma arrived just in time and she managed to calm Shane down by giving him her mum's knitting.

Shortly afterwards Spike and Snake's baby Jack was born and Liz was the midwife for the home birth. Liz was Spikes friend in high school so it was great to see her in the show.

There was some other stuff with Spinner and Paige, but that wasn't as interesting. Roll on next Wednesday!

Oh my, how exciting. Is Shane played by the same actor? I do think the Next Generation has done a good job of capturing the original feel of the show whilst putting it in contemporary setting. Last year, Nickelodeon played all of Degrassi from its first episode to its last. Here's hoping they decide to do it again some time soon.

I just checked IMDB and no it is not the same actor who played Shane McKay in Degrassi High.

Bill Parrot was the original Shane, Jonathan Torrens is the new Shane.
